Commercial Project Portfolio:LA Times Gallery & Archives Commercial HVAC Retrofit & Building Automation IntegrationChristian Brothers Mechanical Services delivered a comprehensive mechanical solution for the LA Times Gallery and Archives. The project required combining heavy packaged rooftop infrastructure with Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) zoning and an integrated building automation network.
Centralized Rooftop & VRF Condensing Systems(1) 20-Ton Carrier Rooftop Package Unit: Features power exhaust, economizers, and standard curb with neoprene isolation.
(1) 38-Ton Toshiba VRF 3-Module Condenser Network: Equipped with a BACnet interface and pad-mounted with neoprene vibration isolation.
Air Handling & Specialized Zoning(7) Toshiba Fan Coils: Includes condensate pumps, overflow switches, 2” filter racks, and spring isolation.
(4) Toshiba Fan Coils (Acoustically Isolated): Includes condensate pumps, overflow switches, 2” filter racks, spring isolation, and integrated sound blankets.
(11) Toshiba VRF Heat Recovery Flow Selectors: Installed to manage simultaneous heating and cooling zones.
(10) Toshiba Ductless Mini-Split Systems: Paired with wall-mounted thermostats and condensate pumps. Condensers are mounted on neoprene isolation pads.
Ventilation, Ductwork, & Piping(11) Cook Inline Exhaust Fans: Equipped with backflow dampers.
(7) Wall Louvers: Installed alongside complete air distribution supply, return, and exhaust diffusers.
Insulated Sheet Metal Ductwork: Custom-fabricated and insulated for optimized airflow.
Insulated Refrigerant Piping: Complete network with outdoor lines protected by aluminum jacketing.
Building Automation System (BAS)We installed a web-based Building Automation System using the Niagara N4 BACnet platform. The scope of work covered full system integration, including all necessary conduit and control wiring to link the Carrier and Toshiba systems into a centralized interface.
Project Rigging & LogisticsChristian Brothers managed the complete hoisting and rigging logistics, safely lifting and placing the 20-ton and 38-ton primary units onto the structure.
The LA Times Gallery & Archives project involved the installation of a high-performance HVAC system within a critical preservation environment. The scope of work focused on ensuring precise climate zoning, advanced building automation, and reliable system integration to meet the strict requirements of a media facility.
Special attention was given to maintaining compliance with structural standards, ensuring occupant comfort, and supporting sensitive archival operations. The system was designed for efficiency, durability, and long-term operational reliability in a demanding commercial setting.
Job Description: FDA Approved Food Grade Coated Ductwork for Dr. Pepper Facility. Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. world-class production and distribution center in Victorville, California, the DPS plant will consist of an 850,000-square-foot LEED Silver Certified building on 57-acres, including 550,000 square feet of warehouse space, and a 300,000-square-foot manufacturing plant with up to six manufacturing lines. Includes rooftop units and evaporative coolers as well as: Food Grade Duct Work and Complete Exhaust system, and a building Management Controls System.
The 110 Ocean Center Building project involved the installation of a high-performance HVAC system within a critical historic environment. The scope of work focused on ensuring precise adaptive reuse, advanced infrastructure modernization, and reliable system integration to meet the strict requirements of a landmark facility.
Special attention was given to maintaining compliance with preservation standards, ensuring tenant comfort, and supporting sensitive mixed-use operations. The system was designed for efficiency, durability, and long-term operational reliability in a demanding coastal setting.
